Its works by acting on megaloblastic bone marrow to produce a normoblastic marrow treating vitamin B12 deficiency inhibiting the herpes simplex virus growth lowering blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels by inhibiting the synthesis of very low density lipoproteins protecting cells against peroxidative damage by increasing the level of glutathione modifying the electrical activity thus relaxing and slowing overactive heart muscles both providing ascorbic acid and reversibly oxidizing to dehydroascorbic acid in the body reducing prostaglandin thus helping blood thinning and prevents clotting relaxing the nerve signals to the brain treating or preventing biotin deficiency
